My name is Shriya Patel, and I’m a rising senior at Woodinville High School. I’m so excited to be a part of the Seattle Fitness Education Initiative and can't wait to spread awareness about the importance of fitness. Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved the healthcare field and everything it has to offer. Whether it's volunteering at a hospital, shadowing local doctors, or hosting statewide healthcare events, I've always found a way to be involved with medicine and spread my love for the field.
I've been a three-time Washington HOSA (Future Health Professionals) state officer, this year serving as the State President, serving over 4,600 members who are interested in the healthcare field. Through HOSA, I have advocated for career and technical education at the state and national capital, and I’ve hosted various workshops ranging from leadership skills to forensic science.
As an aspiring pediatrician, I know that a healthy lifestyle and fitness play a crucial role in overall well-being. Daily exercise and a proper diet are also vital to maintaining self-health and bodily function. Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining overall health, improving mental well-being, and preventing chronic diseases. Fitness not only strengthens our bodies but also enhances our mood, boosts energy levels, and promotes better sleep. By staying active, we can improve our quality of life and increase our longevity. Additionally, as a dancer, I know that being active has a huge effect on well-being. Dance, in particular, is known as an activity that makes you happier and healthier since it promotes the release of neurotransmitters such as endorphins and dopamine.
Through this initiative, I am hopeful to spread awareness about the importance and vital role fitness plays in our lives. I look forward to working alongside other talented peers who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities. Working together we can inspire and educate others about the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle!
